Martin has served on the boards of a number of MAM’s portfolio companies in EMEA, played a key role in helping to raise MAM’s decarbonisation ambitions, and helped to launch and fundraise for several key investment strategies in the region. Prior to his current role, Martin led a sector investment team and oversaw debt capital across MAM’s EMEA portfolio. Martin joined Macquarie Group in 2013 and since then has been heavily involved in a number of major acquisition, financing, restructuring and divestment processes in the region’s infrastructure sector. Based in London, Martin oversees the EMEA investment activities of the world’s largest infrastructure manager and leads a team of approximately 180 people based across eight markets. Martin is Head of the Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) Real Assets team in EMEA. In 2002, he joined Macquarie Group, where he was an integral part of the team that established MAM’s first three European infrastructure funds and played a key role in a significant number of acquisitions for those funds. In this role, he successfully established new European infrastructure funds, oversaw the acquisition and divestment of numerous portfolio companies, and acquired and developed new platforms for the MAM business. Prior to this role, he led the real assets business in EMEA, where he was responsible for overseeing investments in the region. Based in London, he provides global leadership to the world’s largest infrastructure manager and a major investor in renewable energy, agriculture, and natural assets – supporting the growth of the business across new sectors and markets.
